Prof. Alis Deason

I am a Professor at Durham University and a member of the Institute for Computational Cosmology and the Centre for Extragalactic Astronomy.
Previously, I was a Royal Society University Research Fellow at Durham (2016-2025), a Porat Fellow at Stanford University (2015-2016), and a Hubble Fellow at the University of California, Santa Cruz (2012-2015).
I obtained my PhD (2009-2012) at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge under the supervision of Vasily Belokurov and Wyn Evans. I studied Natural Sciences (Astrophysics) at Cambridge as an undergraduate (2005-2009). Before my time in Cambridge, I grew up in a small town in West Wales called Fishguard.
I'm also a big football fan! Check out our "Stargoal" initiative at Durham University: https://stargoal.webspace.durham.ac.uk/
